CE Course Description

Diverse cultures often require adjustments in behavioral health services to be best supported. Individuals with diverse backgrounds may speak different languages, have specific trauma histories, and have distrust for systems that offer them services. Because of this, clinicians must be prepared for how to effectively support clients with diverse backgrounds. They must understand their own backgrounds in order to do so. It is essential that clinicians and organizations have proper training, supervision, and ongoing support in cultural competency to best meet the needs of their clients. Therefore, this course will review the main tenets of cultural competency and offer suggestions for organizations on how to create inclusive environments.
