CE Course Description

Technology is rapidly transforming forensic psychological practice, including remote evaluations, telehealth interviews, electronic record review, and digital psychological testing. While these innovations offer increased accessibility, efficiency, and flexibility, they also introduce important ethical, legal, and methodological challenges. Licensed psychologists must understand how technology affects assessment validity, reliability, confidentiality, and legal defensibility. This course provides psychologists with an evidence-based framework for integrating technology into forensic evaluations while maintaining professional and legal standards. The course reviews tele-assessment research, APA ethical guidelines, risk management considerations, and practical implementation strategies. Participants will examine case examples, learn best practices for remote evaluations, and explore emerging technologies such as AI-assisted assessment and digital phenotyping. This course aligns with APA Continuing Education guidelines by incorporating current research, clearly defined learning objectives, interactive case examples, and measurable outcomes to enhance professional competence in forensic psychological practice.

3. Evaluate how remote and technology-mediated assessments may impact validity, reliability, and rapport during forensic evaluations.
4. Apply best practices for conducting tele-forensic assessments, including workflow design, platform selection, and client preparation.
5. Analyze case scenarios involving technology-mediated forensic evaluations and determine appropriate professional decision-making strategies.
6. Evaluate the ethical, legal, and methodological implications of emerging technologies; including artificial intelligence, digital phenotyping, and remote monitoring; for forensic psychological practice.
